The ROX 01 is an all-terrain luxury SUV built by to blend rugged off-road capability with a premium family travel experience. Utilizing Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) technology, it delivers a massive combined range without any charging anxiety. It functions as a highly competent overland machine that transforms into a luxury lounge on wheels.
At the recent West African Automotive Show at Lagos' Landmark Centre, I spent some hands-on time exploring the vehicle firsthand. Here is everything I uncovered about its design, performance, and tech.
Exterior and Design
The ROX 01 adopts a classic, boxy silhouette featuring sharp body lines, a straight roof, and a commanding road presence.
It measures 5,050 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width, and 1,869 mm in height, riding on a spacious 3,010 mm wheelbase.
The front profile is flanked by sharp LED T-shaped headlights and distinct daytime running lights in what I think is a very clean almost minimalist design approach.
It rides on 21-inch alloy wheels and an electric, soft-close side tailgate engineered to seal out dust and debris during overland trips.
Interior and Cabin Experience
Inside, the cabin focuses entirely on executive comfort and high-definition infotainment layout options. Available in both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations, both available in premium Nappa leather. The 6 seater configuration features 12-electric adjustment captain style chairs also offering massages.
The interior tech suite is powered by a high-speed Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor, which seamlessly drives the vehicle's multiple high-definition displays. Up front, drivers are greeted by a 12.3-inch instrument panel paired with a massive 15.7-inch 3K central touch screen for primary infotainment controls. Rear passengers can enjoy their own dedicated entertainment via a 15.6-inch ceiling-mounted HD screen that supports wireless mirroring. The entire digital cabin experience is wrapped in an immersive 14-speaker premium 7.1 channel surround sound system.
The first and second-row VIP seats with heating, cooling, and massage functions. For flexibility the second and third row seats fold completely flat to form a large indoor sleeping bed.
EREV Powertrain & Mechanical Performance
Rather than a traditional hybrid setup, the vehicle uses its internal combustion engine strictly as a generator to replenish the battery system while electric motors only power the wheels.
The dual electric motor setup pumps out 470 horsepower and 740 Nm of torque, pushing the massive SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds (OEM reported).
The 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine acts as the onboard range extender, automatically kicking in when the battery drops near a 20% buffer.
It features a 56.01 kWh battery pack supplied by CATL, enabling a pure electric driving range of up to 235 km for clean urban commuting.
Combined with a full 70-liter fuel tank and a maximum battery charge, the combined driving range scales up to 1,115 kilometers (and up to 1,338 km under standard test cycles).
Off-Road & Outdoor Exploration Capabilities
The vehicle is specifically optimized for off-grid travel and remote camping setups featuring dedicated off-road chassis modes including Snow, Rock, Mud, Sand, and Wade.
It clears rough obstacles via a 22° approach angle, a 25° departure angle, and a maximum wading depth of 700 mm.
An external vehicle-to-load discharge system outputs up to 4.4 kW of electrical power, easily running high-wattage camping appliances like induction cooktops, lights, and projectors.
Smart Safety & Driver Assistance
The ROX 01 handles highway long-hauls safely using a series of active driver assist suites. The vehicle includes 8 airbags, 360-degree high-definition camera arrays, and Lane Keep Assist. Buyers choosing the Advanced Drive package receive an upgraded sensor suite, including two Nvidia Orin-X computing chips alongside three solid-state LiDAR sensors to future-proof autonomous driving features.
