The Tavet Garent, an EV focused brand from Nord Automobiles, is a bold statement in Africa’s EV landscape. Tavet positions the Garent as “Premium electric sophistication”, blending luxury with cutting-edge EV technology and sleek, futuristic styling, with a focus on minimal drag and modern aesthetics.
It is designed to combine luxury, performance, and sustainability in a package that rivals global leaders while being tailored for African conditions, adapting electric mobility solutions to the continent’s unique needs (infrastructure, climate, and logistics).

Chassis
4-door saloon with 5 seats
Dimensions: 4,880mm x 1,895mm x 1,460mm
Wheelbase: 2,915mm
Suspension: Mcpherson (Front), Multi-link (rear)
Powertrain
The Garent is offered as a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV)/Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV). EREVs carry a small internal combustion engine (ICE) which do not power the wheels but only serve to charge the batteries, sort of like a mobile generator. This helps to eliminate the range anxiety often associated with BEVs.
Different trims will be offered either with either single or dual motors setups generating 400kw in its most powerful configuration. There are no specific details of the range extender yet.
- Power Output: 160kw (214hp) / 200kw (268hp) / 400 kW (536 hp)
- Acceleration (0–100 km/h): 6.8s / 5.8s / 3.9s
- Range: 530km / 620km / 540km
- Top Speed: 165km/h
- Battery: 56.83kWh, 70.26kWh
- Range: 200km (batteries only), 1200km (with range extender)
- Aerodynamics: A drag coefficient of 0.209 Cd, retractable spoiler and aero wheels.
Comfort and Cabin
The centre console has a 15.6-inch Central Touch Display for navigation and entertainment (no info on CarPlay or Android Auto) and an 8.8-inch Digital Instrument Cluster, both hopefully smooth due to the presence of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor.
The cabin is kept comfortable by a multi zone climate control system while a 20 – speaker WANOS sounds system comes as standard.
The seats are wrapped up in leatherette and should be comfortable enough for its intended premium class. No info available on heating, cooling or massaging capabilities.
Optional scissor doors are an option, although there’s no information if this will be available for all doors or just the front doors.
Safety Features
- Airbags
- Lane keeping assist,
- Automatic emergency braking
- Adaptive cruise control
No crash ratings available
The Garent’s announced long range and quick acceleration make it not just a practical EV, but also a thrilling one. If Tavet delivers on interior quality and charging infrastructure, the Garent could redefine premium electric mobility in emerging markets. It is a daring step by Nord Automobiles in today's shriniking saloon market as more saloons get replaced by SUVs, a recent casualty being the Toyota Avalon.
