Geely Auto International Returns To Nigeria; Appoints Coscharis Motors as Exclusive Partner in Nigeria
Geely Auto International has announced the appointment of Coscharis Motors as its exclusive partner and representative in Nigeria.
The announcement was made in Lagos on Thursday by Scofield Wu, Head of the Middle East/Africa Business Unit at Geely Auto International. Wu highlighted that Coscharis was chosen after a thorough search for a company with a strong pedigree in Nigeria’s automotive sector and the capacity to deliver on Geely's brand image. Wu stated, “Coscharis Motors shares our belief that Geely models are perfect for customers facing budget constraints, offering durability, reliability, advanced technology, and excellent after-sales service. This shared passion and their stellar reputation in the automotive industry make this partnership ideal for Geely Auto International in Nigeria.”
As a franchisee of Geely Global, Coscharis Motors is set to officially launch the latest Geely models in Nigeria. The company is already rolling out the all-new Geely GX3 Pro and the latest Coolray from its assembly plant in Lagos and distributing them through its nationwide sales network.
Commenting on the partnership, Dr. Cosmas Maduka, President/CEO of Coscharis Group, expressed excitement: “We are thrilled by the confidence Geely Auto International has placed in us. He further described this partnership as a significant step in the company’s evolution, emphasizing their commitment to broadening their dealership’s scope. The models, particularly the All New Starry and GX3 Pro, are game-changers in their segments,” he added.
Coscharis Motors is excited to re-launch the New Geely Coolray and Emgrand, along with introducing the latest models to Nigeria. “We look forward to welcoming both existing and new customers, as these models are set to stir things up,” Dr. Maduka said.
The official announcement was highlighted by a visit from members of the House Committee on Industry from the Federal House of Representatives. Led by Rt. Honorable (Dr) Enitan Badru, the committee visited the Coscharis Assembly Plant in Lagos, where the new Geely variants are being assembled. Dr. Badru emphasized the importance of legislative support to encourage local investments.
The Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), represented by Dr. Fidelis Achiv, also visited the plant and commended Coscharis for its efforts. The council promised necessary support to ensure the plant's success.
Mr. Josiah Samuel, Group Managing Director of Coscharis Group, showcased the assembly plant, highlighting its world-class standards. “Coscharis has demonstrated that with the right support and business environment, indigenous organizations can compete globally and deliver world-standard vehicles,” he said.
Mr. Samuel also emphasized the economic benefits of local assembly, including job creation for skilled and unskilled labor, boosting the country’s economy. He noted that Coscharis Motors offers a unique selling proposition with a six-year warranty on new Geely vehicles, a rarity in the automotive sector. The company is committed to meeting after-sales needs and providing trade-in options to facilitate ownership of new models.
